With a new fintech NBFS track taking place this year as part of the Cooperation between the FRA sandbox and Techne.

The opening day featured a thought-provoking fireside chat between H.E. Dr. Mohamed Farid Saleh, Chairman of the Financial Regulatory Authority FRA, and Eng. Tarek A. El Kady CEO of Techne.
Their exchange underscored how supportive regulation, collaboration, and visionary leadership are essential to accelerating entrepreneurship in Egypt.

During his remarks, Dr. Mohamed Farid, Chairman of the FRA, stressed that discussions on the future of startups must include exit strategies and IPOs, as they are vital for attracting long-term financing and boosting competitiveness.

Dr. Farid highlighted the rise of innovative tools such as SPACs designed to provide new financing channels for fintech and digital platforms.

Moreover, he underlined that the real challenge lies not merely in creating new tools, but in building a fully integrated system comprising advanced legislation, sound governance practices, and financial transparency—elements that together strengthen trust among all stakeholders in the market.

Dr. Farid also emphasized that the launch of the FRA Sandbox was aimed at fostering innovation by providing a platform to test and refine new ideas in a supportive regulatory environment. Stating that through several partnerships, such as that with techne it enables the sandbox to strengthen the ecosystem.

He concluded by emphasizing that Egypt has made significant progress in improving its regulatory environment and remains committed to building a flexible ecosystem that supports innovation, protects investors, and strengthens Egypt’s position as a regional hub for entrepreneurship.
