Beyond Inclusion: The Next Chapter of Egypt’s FinTech Story

Egypt’s FinTech journey is entering a new phase — one where the focus is shifting from expanding access to deepening meaningful participation in financial services.

This was at the heart of the panel “Beyond Inclusion — The Next Chapter of Egypt’s FinTech Story,” held as part of Entlaq Holding’s Egyptian Entrepreneurship Sector Diagnostic Report Summit 2026, where Eng. Ahmed Khalifa Khalifa, Executive Director of the FRA Sandbox, joined leading voices from Egypt’s financial and technology ecosystem.

The discussion explored how technology is creating new pathways to financial inclusion beyond traditional banking, enabling innovative business models to reach segments that have historically been harder to serve and reshaping how financial services are distributed and accessed.

A key example discussed was Cassbana, a model within the FRA Sandbox that connects manufacturers and suppliers with kiosks, supermarkets, and micro-enterprises through licensed microfinance institutions — demonstrating how innovative digital models can help bring more micro-enterprises into the formal financial ecosystem.

The discussion also highlighted the growing opportunities for innovation across investment, insurance, and other non-banking financial services, alongside the importance of a regulatory environment that can evolve with emerging business models.

Through the FRA Sandbox, innovative models can be tested in a controlled environment, helping regulators and innovators better understand potential risks and identify appropriate regulatory approaches that support responsible innovation while maintaining market stability and customer protection.

As Egypt moves into the next chapter of its FinTech journey, the opportunity lies not only in reaching more people, but in enabling deeper participation, fostering responsible innovation, and creating sustainable value across the financial ecosystem.
