The Future of Insurance Innovation Took Center Stage at the Insurtech Challenge 2026 Closing Ceremony!

The first part of the day featured the finalists’ pitches presented before a judging panel composed of representatives from the FRA Sandbox, AUC Venture Lab, and leading insurance companies.

The second part marked the official closing ceremony, featuring keynote speeches, finalists’ presentations, the winners announcement, and a high-level panel discussion.

The opening session featured remarks by Dr. Sherif Kamel , Dean of the AUC Onsi Sawiris School of Business, Dr. Ayman Ismail ,Associate professor at the Onsi Sawiris School of Business and the founding director of the AUC Venture Lab, Eng. Ahmed Khalifa, Executive Director of the FRA Sandbox & Chief Data Officer at FRA, and Ms. Minoush Abdelmeguid , CEO of AXA Egypt who highlighted the importance of collaboration between regulators, industry leaders, and startups in accelerating innovation across the insurance sector.

The ceremony was attended by H.E. Dr. Islam Abdel Azim Azzam who reaffirmed the FRA’s strategic vision to position innovation as a key pillar in the development of Egypt’s non-banking financial sector. He emphasized that the FRA’s role extends beyond supervision and regulation to actively enabling innovation through the FRA Sandbox’s secure regulatory environment.

Eng. Ahmed Khalifa highlighted that the challenge represents a practical model of collaboration between regulators, academia, startups, and market leaders to transform innovative ideas into scalable business models, while reinforcing the FRA Sandbox’s role in supporting responsible innovation and bridging the gap between emerging technologies and regulatory frameworks.

Dr. Ayman Ismail emphasized the importance of collaboration between innovation and regulation to transform promising ideas into impactful businesses that drive sustainable growth in Egypt’s insurance and fintech sectors.
